In the summer of 2002, on their way to an art show, April and George drove through Kanab and were captivated by the beauty. At the time, they could never have imagined they would one day live here.
George has been a professional Artist Blacksmith for over 25 years. April crafts leather aprons and manages both businesses. In 2014, George was offered a seasonal job opportunity to perform blacksmith demonstrations outside the east entrance of Zion National Park. The timing was right so, they seized the opportunity. As the end of that first season approached, George and April found they didn’t want to return to the remote, ranching corner of New Mexico they called home. Southern Utah had captured their hearts.
At the end of the second season, their home in New Mexico sold. Kanab is a small but very hot real estate market so they had to act quickly. Upon finding the Zionab property with two homes on it, they decided they would share Kanab’s beauty with others by renting one out. After renovating both homes, April decided the smaller home was the perfect size for the two of them. They now offer the larger, 3BR/2BA home with yard as vacation accommodations to families and small groups. They call it Zionab.
George and April love exploring Southern Utah on foot, via four wheelers and in their kayaks. They have found hosting to be incredibly fun and interesting. They love helping others discover the amazing beauty of Southern Utah!
